Thomas McLeish

Age: 45

Sex: male

Date: 20 Nov 2018

Place: 4 St Catherines Square, Perth, Scotland

Thomas McLeish was found dead following a fire. However, it was said that his death had nothing to do with the fire.

He had previously been homeless and used to beg on the High Street. However, when he was offered a flat at St Catherine’s Square about a year before his death he accepted it and moved in. However, it was said that he preferred being homeless.

A friend of his said, 'He preferred to sleep on the streets. But he was getting older and when the flat came up he decided to take it and had been there for about a year'.

Police later said that they thought that the fire might have been started deliberately in a separate property and a 36-year-old man was arrested at the time and later tried for attempted murder and wilful fire-raising.

It was noted that the fire did not start in Thomas McLeish's flat.

The police said that the fire was being treated as suspicious.

However, it was later said that Thomas McLeish did not die as a result of the fire and that his cause of death was due to other causes and not suspicious. His post mortem showed that there was no smoke in his lungs and that he was dead before the fire started.

The fire was first spotted at about 9.50pm by neighbours.

It was thought that Thomas McLeish had been sleeping in a friends flat at the time. The flat had belonged to a man that was not there at the time of the fire.

Thomas McLeish was also known as Tucker.
